Our Values

Our Founding

Founded in 2019 by Mallory and Abdellatif, Salam Hello is a Morocco-based brand rooted in deep respect for Amazigh craft. What began as a shared admiration for traditional weaving evolved into a commitment to protecting and elevating it. Living and working in Morocco, they saw how the beauty, skill, and cultural weight of these textiles were often diminished through opaque practices. Salam Hello was created to offer a more thoughtful model, one that honors both the maker and the tradition itself.

In Arabic, Salam means peace, a greeting echoed in Hello. Together, our name reflects a philosophy of transparency, long-term partnership, and craft meant to be lived with and carried forward.

Our Vision

Moroccan weaving dates back to 600 B.C., carrying generations of tradition, artistry, and symbolism. While these rugs remain deeply cherished, much of their history has been lost through layers of translation and transaction over time. At Salam Hello, we believe the stories behind each piece deserve to be preserved and shared.

What We Do

Working directly with Amazigh artisans, we honor time-worn techniques while allowing designs to evolve thoughtfully for modern living. We’re committed to highlighting the craftsmanship, symbolism, and traditions behind each piece, and the artisans whose hands bring them to life.

How We Work

Every Salam Hello rug is woven in its region of origin. Rather than consolidating production, we go to where the artisans are, ensuring the craft remains rooted in place, knowledge, and community. This approach supports a more enduring, respectful, and sustainable way of working, one that values relationships as much as the final piece.

Sustainability

Named by Harper’s BAZAAR as the most sustainable Moroccan rug brand, conscious creation is our north star. Each rug is a living reflection of its origin, woven from local wool, dyed with native plants, and shaped by the environment and traditions of the Amazigh community that created it.

Every piece is handmade using time-honored techniques, never machines or mass production. We prioritize natural fibers and dyes throughout our collections, harvest wool without harm to animals, and use a proprietary washing process designed to reduce water waste.

Together, these practices allow the craft to remain deeply connected to place while supporting a more thoughtful approach to production
