This intricate runner was woven by Mlouka one of the elders of the Taloust village.

The Taloust village is part of the Tazenakht tribe which is known for this complex weaving technique. This rug style consists of a labyrinthine of geometric shapes that has the same design on both sides which allows this runner to be reversible.

Woven with 100% live sheep’s wool, the colors are created with natural vegetables and spice blends - ingredients like henna, pomegranate skin, saffron, indigo and mint to name a few.

This Flatweave is incredibly strong and will withstand the test of time.

Le Vieux Village Association

The Association Le Vieux Village is a beautiful collective of women artisans just outside of Tazenakht. This Association is a true family affair. Mlouka, the matriarch of the collective, has passed the art of weaving down to her daughters, Naima and Fatima, daughters-in-law, Latifa and Meriem, cousins, and villagers. All of the rugs from Le Vieux are made from 100% live wool that was brushed, carded, and hand-spun by the women of the Association.

Rug Style

Kharita/Tazenakht

This rug style has a few different names; Golden Fingers, Kharita ("map" in Arabic) or Tazenakht. This complex weaving technique is usually made by the senior members of the Village. This technique consists of a maze of geometric shapes that has the same design on both sides which allows this rug to be reversible. This Flatweave is incredibly strong and will withstand the test of time.
